MANILA, Philippines — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting opened on Tuesday its command center at Manila’s Pope Pius Center with a mass officiated by Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle.
The PPCRV is one of the accredited citizens’ arms of the Comelec.
PPCRV chairperson Henrietta de Villa said the command center will be fully operational starting May 12 and remain open until the end of the month.
The command center is equipped with computers and television screens on which electronically transmitted election results will be flashed.
Aside from its voter education and poll watching duties, the PPCRV will also conduct an unofficial parallel election count.
De Villa said the PPCRV and its more than 300,000 volunteers and personnel nationwide are ready for May 13.
Attending the opening were Commission on Elections chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr., commissioner Grace Padaca and several Catholic bishops.
