MANILA, Philippines — Two regional parliament political parties have so far obtained more than 500,000 votes, based on the latest unofficial parallel count by the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).
As of 9:43 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP) already had 602,852 votes, while the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) obtained 557,070 votes.
The BARMM Grand Coalition received 360,278 votes, based on the initial count, less than two hours after the conclusion of the first-ever parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
As the Bangsamoro Transition Authority explained, for the regional parliamentary political party (RPPP), voters will choose a party rather than an individual candidate, and that the 40 allocated seats will be distributed based on each party’s share of the vote, with the party’s nominees filling the seats it wins.
The Commission on Elections said only the RPPPs that obtained at least two and a half percent, or 2.5%, of the total votes cast, or valid votes, for all RPPPs are qualified to participate in the allocation of the seats.
